Holder wins it at the line in Double OT
Men win 6th in a row
Auburn Hills, MI- It took longer than expected, but the Owls walked away with the win in last night's double overtime thriller against the Edison State Chargers.
After being down majority of the game, the Owls stormed back to eventually tie things up, leading to the first overtime.
With the first overtime ending in another stalemate and the second looking as if we'd be heading for extra basketball once again, it was Sophomore Guard Linden Holder who stepped up with the late game heroics.
With 14 seconds left on the clock and down two, Holder was able to make a clutch basket while drawing a foul, and successful making his free throw to make it an 89-88 game. With some gritty defense down at the other end of the court by the Owls on the next possession, the Chargers were unable to make the go ahead basket and the men claimed a very hard fought win.
It was an all around team effort on the night has Holder also contributed with 17 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds to go with his clutch performance. Freshmen Jordan Wright and Justin Latham also had huge nights as Wright ended with a team high 27 points along with 2 assists, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks, while Latham recorded a double-double which included 18 points and 12 rebounds to go along his 5 assists and 3 blocks.
The men's team will be back in action at home next Tuesday, December 17th as they'll welcome in Marian University Ancilla.
