Men take down St. Clair in Quarterfinal matchup; Set to face Hocking in Semifinals
Auburn Hills, MI- It was another night to remember on the home court as the Oakland Community College men's basketball team completed the comeback win last night over St. Clair County Community College in the quarterfinal matchup of the Great Lakes District A Championship, with a final score of 74-72.
Coming into the contest, the Owls were 0-2 against the Skippers on the year, losing the first matchup at home 85-69, and the second on the road 63-59.
The men got out to a quick lead early on in this one, but then got cold from the field and went into halftime trailing 36-26. The Owls would begin to slowly chip away in the second half until Sophomore DJ Morrow found the bottom of the net on an open three to tie the game at 72. On the ensuing offensive possession, it was Freshman Jordan Wright who beat the double team underneath the basket for the game winning bucket with 10 seconds left on the clock.
Wright was a big contributor on the night as he posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds on the night, along with 3 blocks. Freshman Justin Latham poured in 20 points of his own while tacking on 4 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
The men are set to play Hocking College in the semifinal matchup in the Great Lakes District A Championship on Thursday, March 6th at 1pm at Ballenger Field House on the campus of Mott Community College.
