Softball kicks off the 2025 Season down in Florida
Auburn Hills, MI- There's snow on the ground and temperatures are in the single digits, but even mother nature can't stop the start of the 2025 softball season.
The Oakland Community College softball team kicks off their 2025 campaign this week down in Florida as they face off against Polk State College in a double header on Friday at 4pm. The Owls will play a total of 12 games down in the sunshine state to start the year before returning home.
After 1st place finishes in the MCCAA East Conference in 2022 and 2023, last year was a step back for the program as the Owls put together a 6-33 record that put them at the bottom of the standings in the East. Fast forward to this year, the roster has been reconstructed as OCC welcomed in 14 newcomers to the program and will lean on the experience of 5 sophomores this year to lead the way. Like every season, head coach Jamie Corona has her eyes set high once again this spring. "I'm very excited for the upcoming season" said Corona. "Our 3 returners, Makayla Lezotte, Olivia Black, and Carly McCulloch are a great foundation to build off of with all the freshman and transfers we have added to our roster. I think we will be a well-rounded team that will battle for a conference and district title."
The Owls first home game of the year is on March 11th against Edison State with first pitch scheduled for 2pm, with conference play starting at home on March 21st against Henry Ford at 3pm.
