Winter Haven, FL- After an escape from the cold and snow, the Oakland Community College softball team returns home after more than a week down in the sunshine state, having played a total of 12 games in that timespan.
The Owls got off to a slow start down in Florida to begin the year, returning home with a 3-9 record. The team comes back sporting a .243 batting average, along with a team ERA of 5.92 from the pitching staff, and scored a total of 42 runs while down south.
Some standout performers from the Owls were Freshman Katelynn Perry as she compiled a batting average of .419 on 13 hits, while driving in 6 runs in 12 games played. Sophomore Bella Asai had a good week as she collected 10 hits in 11 games, while also recording 6 RBI's. Perry also got it done on the mound for the Owls as she appeared in 6 games and put in 16 quality innings of work. She boasts a 2-0 record to go along with a 3.06 ERA while only giving up 7 earned runs.
Softball will be back in action next week as they welcome in the Edison State Chargers on Tuesday, March 11th for the home opener. First pitch is scheduled for 2pm.
