Softball falls to Alpena in Great Lakes District Matchup
Port Huron, MI- The 2025 softball season for the Oakland Community College Owls came to an end on Friday as the women dropped a heartbreaker to Alpena College in the first round of the loser's bracket in the Great Lakes District Championship.
The Owls and Lumberjacks were locked into a stalemate until the 5th inning when Alpena pushed 2 runs across the plate, but a quick response from the Owls in the bottom of the 6th gave them a 3-2 lead. That lead would be short lived however, as Alpena would score the game tying run in the top half of the 7th inning, sending the game to extras where the Lumberjacks would go onto win the game 4-3 in 8 innings.
Sophomores Carly McCulloch and Olivia Black led the way for the Owls on offense as they both contributed RBI's along with a double courtesy of Black.
The OCC Softball team ends their season with a 25-28 record overall.
