Last Saturday, Oakland Community College women's basketball player Lizzy Liedel checked off a massive milestone as she surpassed 1,000 career points in her collegiate career. The sharpshooting sophomore guard captured the milestone with a 3 pointer in the closing minutes in the contest against St. Clair County Community College, where the Owls would go onto lose 95-51. Liedel would end with 18 points.
Liedel has been the spoon that stirs the pot for the Owls all year. She's the NJCAA DII leader in scoring, averaging 25.2 points a game on 38.6% shooting from the field. She leads the team in minutes played, 3 point percentage, steals, and is second on the team in rebounds.
As the regular season is coming to a close, Liedel and the rest of Owls look to put their best foot forward as postseason play approaches. The Owls next game will be at home on Wednesday against conference opponent Henry Ford. Tip off is at 5:30pm.
